One of the key factors of building a successful company is taking care of your employees. This may not be ground breaking news. It is normal for companies to offer benefits such as insurance. This is great, but has now become so normal that most employees take benefits like this for granted. In other words offering health insurance is no longer an offer that stands out.

Research show that there is a strong correlation between the success of a company and workplace relationships. There are several reasons for this. Recent studies show that building relationships at work improves morale, increases engagement and leads to greater satisfaction at work.

There are two main reasons why any organization should care about this. Firstly it has an indirect effect on the overall success because it has a direct positive effect on the number one recourse any company has; its employees. Secondly because being an organization that cares about their employees and want to create a fun and including work environment might be what will make your organization stand out when talented candidates are looking for a job!

One of the main reasons why all these new tech companies have had such great success and have been able to grow so fast, is because they know what it takes to become an attractive workplace for the new generation that is entering the job market. Millenials have different demands and expectations than their previous generations, and one of the most important factors to this group, when they are applying for jobs is, you guessed it; a great work environment.  When you are able to create a workplace that feels like family for employees, then they will not only respect the company, they will start to love it. And when you love something, you don’t want to leave it. It is a challenge for companies now a day is to keep their employees from switching jobs every 2-5 years. Creating strong bonds at the workplace could be an important factor to prevent this.

Without relationships at work, you are not an organization. You are just offices with individuals.
